When the body's stress response stays switched on, sleep, mood and focus all pay for it. A stellate ganglion block places a local anesthetic near a cluster of nerves in the neck that helps drive the fight-or-flight response. At AgeRejuvenation we do not offer it as a stand-alone menu item: it is performed at Reboot Vitality, a nervous system clinic in our South Tampa building at 220 N Howard Ave, Suite B.
This page explains what the nervous system reset is, why AgeRejuvenation patients have it done at Reboot Vitality, and what the two days look like. The procedure is a dual stellate ganglion block, and it is performed only at Reboot Vitality, a nervous system clinic inside our South Tampa building at 220 N Howard Ave, Suite B. Every recommendation still starts with an individual evaluation, because responses vary and this is specialized care.
What Is the Nervous System Reset?
Answer: The nervous system reset is a physician-performed stellate ganglion block: a local anesthetic placed near a cluster of nerves in the neck that helps drive the fight-or-flight response, done on both sides.
The stellate ganglion is part of the sympathetic chain, the branch of the nervous system that prepares the body for a threat. The Cleveland Clinic explains how the sympathetic nervous system drives the fight-or-flight response. Briefly interrupting signaling at this nerve cluster is meant to help a stress response that will not settle return toward a calmer baseline.
Why Is It Performed at Reboot Vitality?
Answer: Because Reboot Vitality, in the same building, is organized around this one procedure. It is where Dr. Michael Meighen performs every stellate ganglion block for our patients, under ultrasound guidance, and it is the only place the procedure is done.
Dr. Meighen is double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in Pain Medicine, and he performs both sides himself. Keeping the procedure in one dedicated clinic means one team, one schedule and one set of follow-up steps. You can read more about Dr. Meighen's training and background on our provider page.
Who May the Nervous System Reset Help?
Answer: It is most often considered by adults with PTSD, severe anxiety or trauma-linked sleep problems whose bodies stay on high alert even with other care.
The pattern is usually physical as much as emotional: a racing heart, constant tension, hypervigilance and sleep that stays shallow despite exhaustion. Veterans, first responders and people who have carried stress for years often describe it this way. Reboot Vitality explains stellate ganglion block care for PTSD in Tampa in more depth, including how it fits alongside therapy rather than replacing it.
Candidacy is decided after an evaluation, not by symptoms alone. A clinician reviews your history, medications and goals before any injection, and the protocol is not right for everyone.
What Do the Two Days Look Like?
Answer: The Reboot Protocol™ treats one side per day on two consecutive days. Each day is outpatient, and you go home after monitoring.
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day one | Consultation and nervous system evaluation, then the right-side block under ultrasound guidance, then 20 to 30 minutes of monitoring |
| Day two | The left-side block under ultrasound guidance, then 20 to 30 minutes of monitoring |
Reboot Vitality walks through what happens on each day of the protocol, from the first evaluation to aftercare, so you know what to plan for before you book.
Side Effects and Safety
Answer: Most side effects are temporary and come from the local anesthetic, such as a droopy eyelid, a hoarse voice, a stuffy nose or warmth on the treated side, and they fade as the medication wears off.
Serious complications are uncommon when a trained physician performs the block with imaging guidance, and screening comes first for exactly that reason. The U.S. National Library of Medicine describes how a local anesthetic temporarily blocks nerve signaling, which explains both the intended effect and the short-lived side effects.
The Reboot Protocol™ has not been reviewed or approved by the FDA as a treatment for PTSD. The local anesthetic used in the injection is FDA-approved; using it for PTSD is an off-label use. Individual experiences vary.
